Leah Frei

Leah Frei

My name is Leah and I am passionate about teaching Zumba. I bring a ton of energy to my classes, with a pinch of sass and a dash of silly thrown in. Be prepared to groove, smile, and sweat! All levels of fitness are welcome and no dance experience is necessary. Don't be shy: just follow my lead!

In addition to being licensed in Zumba, Aqua Zumba, and Zumba Gold, I am SPRA-certified in Group Fitness (Land), and Aquatic Fitness. My CPR/First Aid certificate is always kept up-to-date. My goal is always to get you moving and smiling, whether on land or in water!

By day, I am a small animal veterinarian. In contrast, teaching Zumba has been an amazing outlet for my creative energy as well as a phenomenal cardiovascular workout that doesn't feel like exercise. It keeps me motivated to move every day. I fell in love with Zumba in the Fall of 2012 and my passion for this Latin-inspired dance fitness class has only grown stronger! My other interests include salsa dancing, weight-lifting, and cats :) . I look forward to meeting you!

Ty Vandersteen

Ty Vandersteen

I am 23 years old and have recently graduated with great distinction from the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan. Now that I have my degree I am planning to apply to the Physical Therapy Masters program at the U of S.

I grew up in a very athletic orientated family, my mother and father grew up playing sports and still are active sports participants. My one and only sister also attends the U of S and is always involved in various sporting activities. I first started playing soccer at the age of four and have been playing ever since. I spent the majority of my teenage years playing division one soccer with the Swift Current club team. Our club team had a successful run while I was playing winning two provincial gold medals and three silver medals. Unfortunately, at the age of 16 I partially tore my ACL in my right knee. After a year of waiting for surgery and year of recovery I began playing competitive sports again.

Aside from soccer I love playing volleyball and basketball. After high school I played both sports at the local college for a year before moving to Saskatoon to attend the U of S. When I'm not at school or working I enjoy traveling with my girlfriend. I am very fortunate to have visited seven different countries within the last calendar year.

In the past I have helped coach various Swift Current youth provincial teams. My most recent coaching experience came in 2015, when I coached the Evan Hardy junior volleyball team. I always enjoy working with youth athletes and I am looking forward to this opportunity to work with some eager young soccer players.

Hey guys and gals! My name is Shay Ethier and I am a certified Zumba instructor. I am 20 years old and full of energy! I work full-time as a Dental Aid at Midtown Dental with plans of becoming a Dental Assistant in the future!

I have tons of dance experience. I started at the age of 7 when I took my first Hip-Hop class, from there I was hooked! I went on to work with Saskatchewan Express. A touring musical theatre company based in Saskatoon and Regina. I was with them for a number of years before taking a few competitive classes. I have experience with Lyrical, Ballet, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. I took dance classes up until I reached my Senior year in high school which is when I started taking Zumba and I fell in love! Being able to get my daily exercise without feeling like it's work is my favorite part! It's so much fun and an easy way to make friends too!

I wanted to become an instructor because I wanted to share my love for Zumba with others! I obtained my Zumba certification in February in Edmonton and have been looking forward to teaching ever since. I have my CPR and First Aid which is necessary when teaching a class as well! I look forward to sharing my love of dance with you and I can't wait to see you on the dance floor!!

I am currently a student at the University of Saskatchewan, in the Kinesiology/Education combined program, with the hopes of being a physical education teacher in the future! Athletics have been a major part of mine and my family's life for 16 years. In high school, I was named athlete of year at my school all 4 years, and was also named the Saskatchewan Volleyball U18 athlete of the year. The following year, I went to bible school for one year in BC at Columbia Bible College, where I started my post secondary volleyball career. That season I was named to the conference All-Rookie Team, and we finished 4th at Nationals. It was during that year where I met my now fiancée Anna Cupido, who you will learn more about below! :) For the past 4 years I have been a member of the U of S Huskies men's volleyball team, including being a starter for my last 3 years. The past 2 years, our team has finished in the top 5 at Nationals. This past year, I was the head coach of one of the Huskie Volleyball club u18 teams. This upcoming year I will be on the coaching staff for the Huskies University men's team.

Aside from volleyball, my hobbies include golf, basketball, and watching pretty much any sport on TV! I also have my first aid/CPR certification.

I look forward to coaching this camp!

Volleyball has been a big part of my life for many years. I started as a player in grade 8, and played club and high school volleyball until I graduated grade 12. In my grade 11 and 12 years I received multiple all-star awards at regional and provincial championships. After high school, I played on the Columbia Bible College Women's volleyball team for 4 years, where I was co-captain for my second, third and fourth years. In my third year we made history for the college finishing 2nd at provincials and qualifying for our first ever nationals. Throughout my time at CBC I received league-wide athlete of the week awards based on performance, and an all-star award at the provincial championships my third year. I also received team leadership awards voted on by my teammates and coaches. In my fourth year at CBC, I tore my ACL in the second game of the season. In that disappointment, I was able to learn a lot about the game helping the team as an assistant coach, which I continued to do for the 2 following years at the college.

After high school, I was an assistant coach for various club volleyball teams in various age groups. After my time at CBC, I started working at an elementary school as an educational assistant, and head coached the junior girls team in my first year, and coached the grade 8 girls team this past year. Coaching is definitely a passion of mine and I am excited to meet you and help you learn more about this game that I love!

Some other hobbies of mine include beach volleyball, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and checking out coffee shops.

Jordynn MacNeill

Jordynn MacNeill

I took an interest in cooking at a very early age; almost as soon as I could stand on a stool in my grandma's kitchen. Over the years, she taught everything I needed to know about the basics of cooking and safety to be successful in the kitchen. From there, I refined my skills through experience and trial and error. I believe that having the basics under your apron is the fundamental first step in cooking and I'm very eager to share it with the kids in my classes. I truly enjoy helping them develop an enjoyable and useful hobby.

Alan Korejbo

Alan Korejbo

Hi there! I was born and raised in northern Saskatchewan. After high school I moved to Alberta where I discovered Shotokan karate and began training at Edmonton’s downtown YMCA Karate Club. This is where I caught the martial arts bug, and the rest is history as they say. Ever since then, I’ve been a student of traditional karate. I have been training karate for the last twenty-seven years, and have been teaching for the last fifteen. Now I’m excited to be able to share my passion for martial arts with the Brevoort Park Community Association.

I enjoy focussing on the technical and psychological aspects of the martial arts and on my students' individual needs. I pride myself in dissecting martial arts and self-defence tactics for the most effective way to learn and execute martial arts. I was awarded my San (third) Dan in traditional Shotokan karate (JKA International) and have been privileged to have been able to train with some of North America’s most prestigious traditional karate masters.

Sarah Hardy

Sarah Hardy

Sarah began her yoga journey in 2006 out of a sheer desire to hold on to her flexibility and gain some strength in her bendy body – little did she know how truly transforming this practice would be for the mind as well as the body! Within a few years the desire shifted from a body transformation to a way to calm the mind after a long day. One day, in a particularly long pigeon pose, she came to the conclusion that somehow she needs to share this practice with anyone and everyone!

Her desired outcome with her classes is to support first-time yogis to kick off their yoga journeys with fascination and confidence, and help more experienced yogis find the connection between body and mind and breath, having fun and with lots of laughs along the way!

She received her 200hr Yoga Teaching Certification in beautiful Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica in August 2016 from Passion Yoga School – Under the direction of Addison Demaree Liederbach (Adi Shakti) and her team of talented teachers.
